Braves' play-off hope ?

剛看了 AJC Terence Moore 的一篇文章：Pitching will be Braves’ downfall (http://myurl.com.tw/nd3j)

他在這篇文章裡質疑目前勇士狀況好只是一時的，"This won't continue". 他認為在國聯八支競爭外卡的球隊中，勇士沒有希望贏得外卡，更沒有希望在 NL East 奪冠。

他認為這與1993年的勇士不同，那時在 7/22 還落後領先的巨人10場、但最後以一場勝差奪下分區冠軍。1993年的勇士陣容比現在好很多，Terence 與 目前擔任洋基比賽電視播報員的 David Justice 都同意這一點。

David Justice 說："在93年我們有很多解決方法，我們只需要打好一點就行了。而現在這支球隊，如果你仔細去看，他們還存在著一大堆問題。"
“In 1993, we had a lot of answers, and we just needed to play better. Whereas this team, if you really look at them, they have a lot of questions,” said David Justice

他還說："你知道嗎，很多人說他們無法想像勇士可以這麼多次打進季後賽，但是我知道他們可以做到。而我也想像我仍在勇士隊裏。" David Justice 仍對1996年球季後和 Marquis Grisson 一起被交易感到震驚 (跟印地安人隊換來 Kenny Lofton)，"也許我太天真了，當時我們擁有很多有天份的球員，我以為勇士會保持球隊的完整，而且我們至少可以一起打拼10年。"
“You know, people say that they couldn’t have imagined the Braves going to the playoffs this many times, but, yeah, I could have. And I also could have imagined me on every one of those teams doing it,” said Justice

Justice 說："今年勇士有多少.. 3 或 4 個 closers? Tim Hudson 的表現起起伏伏，所以他們實際上只有一個可以保證獲勝的先發投手 (Smoltz)。而93年我們的陣容堅強、牛棚也很穩定、還有堅強的先發群，能克服下半季。" (當年的四大先發，Maddux、Glavine、Smoltz、Avery)
“They’ve had, what, three or four closers already this year? Tim Hudson has been up and down, so they really have just one starter (John Smoltz) that you can guarantee a win. We knew we had the personnel to overcome in the second half and play unbelievable baseball. We had a bullpen that was steady, and we had a pitching staff that was solid.”

Terence 認為現在的情況更糟，因為目前有21支球隊還有季後賽的希望，而且大家都在找牛棚。勇士還有一個 Hudson 表現不好的問題。

總之，不能只靠打擊來解決問題，這樣過不了多久，勇士的打擊回復"正常"後，投手群的問題就曝露無遺，而勇士將再次快速下沉。

Terence Moore 多年來一直是 AJC 的烏鴉，專門唱雖勇士，但有時不得不同意他的看法。而 David Justice 這位90年代的勇士先生，除了他的領袖氣質、揮棒的架勢也讓老勇士迷很懷念吧。
一切都等著看，期待年輕的勇士們以實際的成績讓老前輩心服口服。
